You’ll work closely with field and construction teams, providing hands-on HSEQ support across Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, and Darwin. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Prepare and review Project Safety Plans and SWMS, ensuring practical, compliant outcomes Conduct site inspections, safety interactions, and pre-start/mobilisation checks Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions Monitor and coach subcontractor and workforce compliance with safety standards Deliver practical safety training and toolbox sessions to field teams Track and close corrective and preventative actions in a timely manner Identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives across HSEQ systems Support compliance with WHS legislation and ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) About You We’re looking for someone with HSEQ experience in any industry (experience in construction, HVAC, or building services is advantageous). You will thrive in a dynamic, fast-growing environment and demonstrate: Minimum Certificate IV in WHS/OHS Ability to develop safety procedures and conduct risk assessments Experience coordinating audits and managing findings Strong knowledge of QLD & NT WHS legislation and risk management Excellent organisational and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong customer focus Culture At VAE, our people live and breathe our values of Energy, Synergy, and Success .
