The role of General Manager Grid Technology sits at the centre of this transformation and represents a rare opportunity to join the senior leadership team shaping the future of Queensland’s electricity system. About the Role Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the General Manager Grid Technology leads a large and highly specialised technical portfolio responsible for the ongoing deployment, operation and future direction of technologies that manage and enable Energy Queensland’s electricity network. Leading a workforce of approximately 270 technical professionals across Queensland, the role oversees critical areas including grid technology strategy, operational technology environments, telecommunications networks, protection and control systems, spatial capability and new technology development. The role sits at the centre of Energy Queensland’s engineering transformation and will play a key role in modernising the network to support increasing renewable integration, digital grid capability and improved system resilience. Key responsibilities include: Leading grid technology strategy, standards and technical frameworks Overseeing telecommunications and operational technology architecture including cyber security Enabling integration of emerging technologies supporting renewable generation, EVs and batteries Managing portfolio delivery of grid technology initiatives Providing strategic technical advice to senior leadership Leading organisational change across a distributed technical workforce The role operates within a complex infrastructure environment with approximately $18 million operating budget and influence over $50 million in capital investment annually. About You You are an accomplished leader with a strong engineering or infrastructure background and a demonstrated ability to lead complex technical organisations through periods of transformation. You combine deep technical credibility with enterprise leadership capability and are comfortable operating at the intersection of engineering, technology, strategy and organisational change.
