Hofmann Engineering’s established engineering workshop in Perth, is seeking to fill the position of Painter. This will suit an energetic person who takes pride in their work and work area, is punctual, and has excellent communication skills. The position is primarily responsible for applying protective coatings to manufactured items and to complete all requested tasks in a tradesman like manner. Key Responsibilities: Surface Preparation: Prepare the site for painting by cleaning, sanding, and removing old paint, and other coverings where required. Application of Paints: Apply paint and varnishes using different brushes, rollers, and assist in spraying paint. Apply all types of paints, including acrylic, oil-based paints, weather shield paint, water-based, and glossy paints Final Coat Application: Apply the final coat of paint where required to ensure a smooth and durable finish. Protective Measures: Secure the painting area from any damage by laying drop sheets, plastic sheets, and other protective materials to prevent paint splattering on adjacent areas. Colour Matching and Mixing: Mix and match paints and stains to match specified colours and textures. Tool Operation: Operate and maintain all painting tools and equipment, including ladders, scaffolds, and safety gear, ensuring proper safety measures on-site. Project Management: Work collaboratively with site supervisors to meet deadlines, maintain workflow, and deliver work on time. Site Cleanup: Clean and organize the site after completing the job, removing any waste materials and ensuring a neat space for handover. Preferred Skills/Experience: Australian Trade certificate required. Minimum 2 years experience. Critical thinking abilities. Ability to react to non-conformance operations as they occur. This role will also demand flexibility and a “can-do” attitude. Successful applicants will be highly motivated, have good communications skills and keen to work as a flexible team. Additional skills and qualifications will be highly regarded. Training in workplace safety will be an ongoing process.
