About the Role This role supports workforce coordination within a large operational environment by maintaining staff rosters, managing workforce data and ensuring daily staffing requirements are effectively planned and communicated. Working closely with operational teams, the position contributes to the smooth delivery of frontline services by ensuring workforce scheduling aligns with operational requirements, industrial awards and internal business rules. Position: HR Scheduling Officer – NSW Government Contract Pay rate: $40-60/hour Super Location: Sydney NSW Start Date: ASAP Duration: 12 months Hours: 35 hours per week (no overtime) Key Responsibilities Maintain and update workforce rosters in accordance with established scheduling procedures and operational requirements Monitor staffing allocations to ensure appropriate workforce coverage across operational areas Record and manage employee leave requests, roster preferences and days off within workforce management systems Reconcile leave records against system reports to ensure compliance with audit and reporting requirements Respond to roster-related enquiries from staff and operational stakeholders in a timely and professional manner Collaborate with other scheduling staff to coordinate workforce replacements and coverage for planned or unplanned absences Review payroll and workforce data to identify discrepancies and escalate issues where required Prepare workforce utilisation, staffing and operational reports for internal management review Maintain accurate scheduling records and documentation in line with departmental policies and governance requirements Support communication of roster updates, scheduling changes and policy information to relevant teams Assist with administrative tasks relating to workforce planning and operational coordination Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling processes and workforce reporting practices About You Previous experience in workforce scheduling, rostering, workforce planning or operational administration Experience working within government, large operational organisations or complex workforce environments is highly regarded Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of workforce data accurately Experience using workforce management, rostering or HR information systems Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively Ability to interpret policies, procedures and industrial awards related to workforce scheduling Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with multiple internal stakeholders Strong problem-solving capability when responding to roster changes or workforce issues Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and reporting tools Ability to work within structured procedures while managing competing operational priorities Valid working rights in Australia are required.
