About the Role We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic / Automotive Technician to join our professional and friendly team. This hands-on role involves performing mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on a variety of vehicles while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and customer service. Key Responsibilities Vehicle Diagnosis and Repair Discuss problems with car drivers or vehicle operators to identify faults; listen to engines, use diagnostic equipment, and test drive vehicles to confirm issues Identify problems, determine cause-and-effect relationships, and evaluate information from various sources to select the best repair approach Complete vehicle details on requisition orders (e.g. kilometres, engine number, registration number) Repair or replace worn and faulty parts by removing and dismantling assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering gear Reassemble, clean, test, and adjust repaired or replaced parts using the appropriate tools and equipment Perform preventive maintenance checks on brakes, steering, suspension, fluid levels, electrical systems, and cooling systems Tune engines using diagnostic equipment and adjust carburettor or fuel injection systems for optimal performance Diagnose, repair, and replace engine management and fuel injection components Carry out minor body and trim repairs Use oxy, electric, and MIG welders as required Tyre and Alignment Services Inspect tyres and related components and select tyres and rims appropriate for different vehicles Drive vehicles onto hoists or jacks for tyre and mechanical work Change or repair tyres, balance wheels, and perform wheel alignments Check and service steering systems and suspension Identify and interpret tyre and rim regulations and conduct post-alignment checks Advise customers on tyre selection, repairs, and costs Test-drive vehicles to diagnose or verify repairs Handle tyre sales transactions and payments Receive, check, and shelve new tyres and parts Workshop Maintenance and Safety Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the service area Keep tools and equipment clean, organised, and returned to designated locations Ensure hazardous substances are stored and disposed of safely Follow occupational health and safety (OHS) standards and procedures at all times Supervise apprentices when required Skills and Experience Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent qualification) Current Australian driver’s licence Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills Experience with tyres, balancing, and wheel alignments preferred Ability to work independently and within a team environment Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality Good communication and customer service skills Why Join Us Competitive pay rate based on experience Supportive, team-oriented workshop environment Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Well-equipped modern workshop Be part of a locally owned business with strong community values
