Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital As a Registered Nurse (PACU) you will be responsible for the provision of a high standard of patient care in a safe and effective manner. You will assess and monitor patients post-anaesthesia, ensuring airway, breathing, circulation, and vital signs remain stable while identifying and responding to any complications. The role includes managing pain and post-operative symptoms, provide airway support as required, maintain patient safety, communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, document care accurately, and prepare patients for safe discharge or transfer while offering reassurance and support. SJG Murdoch Hospital now have 18 operating theatres, angio suite, endoscopy unit and Surgicentre. You will be exposed to the latest in surgical technology, including robotics, and work with some of the highest calibre surgeons in Australia who are usually based onsite in our consulting suites. Our Clinical Command Centre is the hub that oils the theatre machine, with information feeding into and out of a central location to co-ordinate patient flow, equipment and available beds in recovery and on the wards. The Position Maintain and develop clinical skills in order to care for patients appropriate to level of competence. Deliver a high standard of patient care utilizing appropriate resources cost effectively. Adhere to and support hospital policies, procedures and standards. Act as the patient’s advocate and facilitate the rights of individuals. Provide patient education and act as a resource where appropriate. Participate in a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care through the continuum of care in recovery. Prioritise workload using resources effectively. Provide supervision to Enrolled Nurses, students and PCAs as required You will hold registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse. You will demonstrate commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction, along with well developed interpersonal and relationship building skills. To succeed you will have an ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development. Minimum 2 years previous theatre/PACU experience within a hospital environment and postgraduate qualification will be highly regarded.
