About You : Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Social Welfare, Education, Psychology, Counselling, Community Services, or related disciplines. Position Summary : The Child Contact Supervisor is responsible for providing high-quality supervision during visits between children and/or young persons and their families. The role ensures that the child’s best interests are protected while facilitating safe and constructive interactions. The position involves working with children in out-of-home care and those from separated families, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being during supervised visits. The Child Contact Supervisor must maintain a non-biased, confidential, and professional approach while liaising with parents/carers and supporting positive relationships between children and their families. Key Requirements : Strong communication skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation. Experience in observational reporting and professional documentation. Ability to work autonomously and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations. Understanding of child protection laws and mandatory reporting obligations. Sound knowledge of child development and working with vulnerable children. Experience in managing clients with challenging behaviours. Excellent time management and organisational skills. Job Responsibility : Supervise children during contact visits to ensure meaningful and positive interactions with parents/carers. Ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of children, young people, and individuals with disabilities. Maintain a neutral and professional stance while facilitating family interactions. Provide written observational reports in a timely manner after each visit, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Conduct risk assessments and manage varying situations effectively. Work with clients who may exhibit challenging or difficult behaviours, using appropriate behaviour management strategies. Uphold child protection and mandatory reporting requirements. Communicate effectively with children, families, and relevant stakeholders to support safe and positive visits. Maintain a high level of autonomy, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in complex situations. Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures while maintaining ethical standards.
