Job Description Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership & Compliance Act as a visible safety champion, leading by example in field interactions, toolbox talks, and procedural adherence. Embed safety into all water management activities, ensuring compliance with HSECQ standards, licence conditions, and site operating rules. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident reviews, driving continuous improvement in safety culture. Technical Oversight & Strategy Provide expert direction on mine water management, including groundwater and surface water investigations, dewatering strategies, and wet‑season preparedness. Lead the development and execution of the mine water management strategy (90‑day to life‑of‑mine horizon), integrating infrastructure, water inventory, and regulatory constraints. Oversee water balance modelling, hydrological assessments, and infrastructure planning to support production, rehabilitation, and closure objectives. Ensure technical standards and governance frameworks are periodically reviewed and updated to reflect best practice and regulatory changes. Team Leadership & Capability Development Supervise and mentor technical personnel, fostering a high‑performance culture and building team capability in water management and compliance. Conduct performance reviews, identify development pathways, and support succession planning across the technical services team. Promote collaboration across Processing, Logistics, Environmental, and Production Planning teams to align water strategies and shared accountabilities. Encourage innovation and professional growth by introducing new technologies, modelling tools, and digital analytics into team workflows. The Successful Applicant Required: Bachelor's Degree in the fields of: Mining Engineering, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology / Hydrogeology / Earth Sciences or Environmental Science 10-15 years extensive mining background with expertise in mine water systems, dewatering, and regulated structures. Skilled in mining software, modelling, telemetry, and digital tools supporting operational decisions. Strong understanding of mining legislation, licence conditions, QA, HSEC, and governance compliance. Visible safety champion, embedding risk management and compliance into daily operations. Proven ability to prioritise and manage competing demands in complex mining environments. Clear communicator with suppliers, contractors, regulators, executives, and cross‑functional teams. Skilled in managing OPEX/CAPEX budgets and delivering projects safely, on time, and within scope. Mentor and supervisor, building capability, succession planning, and high‑performance culture. Results‑driven, resilient, and solutions‑focused, ensuring operational efficiency and production continuity.
