About the Role We are seeking skilled Boilermakers for the upcoming AMPOL Refinery Turnaround. Working closely with Supervisors, Pipe Fitters, Welders, and UGL/Ampol leadership, you will carry out fabrication, structural repairs, piping support work, and shutdown maintenance activities. The turnaround runs from Mid May – August 2026, working a 6 days on / 1 day off roster Night shift on 50% of scope. Boilermaker/Welder certification is essential, and pipe fitting experience is highly valued for this role. What We Offer • Travel Reimbursement for DIDO • LAHA – Accommodation provided plus LAHA allowance • 6/1 roster for the shutdown duration with Nightshift on 1 unit • Strong, supportive safety-first culture • Access to UGL learning and development programs • Employee benefits, rewards, and long-term career pathway Key Responsibilities • Perform boiler making and fabrication work including: – Structural repairs and modifications – Pipe supports, brackets and mechanical steelwork – Preparation and fitting for welding activities – Basic pipe fitting and alignment tasks • Work alongside Welders and Pipe Fitters to complete shutdown mechanical scopes. • Assist with valve, line and fitting replacements and reinstatement. • Support hydrotesting preparation, reinstatement, and mechanical QA processes. • Interpret drawings, isometric piping diagrams, work packs, and fabrication details. • Ensure all tasks comply with Permit to Work, isolation, hot work, and confined space procedures. • Participate in toolbox meetings, JSAs, hazard identification and safety engagements. • Maintain quality workmanship, tool care, and strong housekeeping standards. • Liaise with NDE/NDT teams for inspection, testing, and repair follow-ups. About You • Trade qualified Boilermaker/Welder • Proven experience in oil refining, gas/chemical plants, heavy industrial maintenance, or shutdowns. • Competent in fabrication, structural repairs, welding support, and mechanical shutdown work. • Pipe fitting experience—including alignment, fit up and basic installation—highly regarded. • Solid understanding of valves, lines, fittings, hydrotesting processes, and shutdown requirements. • Knowledge of high-risk work controls including isolation, hot work, confined space, and W@H. • Safety focused, reliable, and effective in high-pressure shutdown environments. • Able to work well within diverse mechanical and fabrication teams.
