The organisation delivers longterm engineering, design and integration services across highly regulated environments, offering a stable and technically challenging workplace. Your new role Lead the general design engineering discipline, providing technical leadership and delivery oversight across complex platforms. This role combines handson engineering with people leadership, design coordination and stakeholder engagement.Key responsibilities include: Leading the general design and outfitting engineering function across complex platforms Providing technical authority across: General arrangement and concept design Weight control, stability, seakeeping and performance considerations Outfitting and accommodation design, including compartments, structural closures and fire protection Deck layouts, equipment arrangements, ladders, platforms and minor foundations Applying robust systems engineering processes to general design and integration activities Leading design coordination activities, technical investigations and root cause analysis Overseeing the development and review of engineering documentation, including drawings, analyses, reports and installation work packages Planning and coordinating engineering activities from concept through to delivery Leading and mentoring engineers within the general design discipline Chairing design coordination and design review meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders Liaising with customers, suppliers, regulators and classification bodies as required Ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulations and quality requirements Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated outcomes What you'll need to succeed Tertiary qualifications in Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline Significant, proven experience in design or platform engineering roles within complex or regulated environments Strong background in general arrangement, outfitting and platform integration Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams Strong understanding of systems engineering and interface management Experience working in configuration controlled, standards driven environments Ability to review and approve technical designs and engineering documentation Experience with CAD tools and standard engineering software Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure Eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1 security clearance What you'll get in return A senior technical leadership role supporting complex, high value assets Opportunity to influence design strategy and integration outcomes Long term role with stability and professional development opportunities Competitive salary package aligned to experience A collaborative, professional engineering environment What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV to Holly.Powell@hays.com.au , or call us now.
