ME Medical Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant to work in the NT for a Fixed Term Contract up to 5 years. Primary objective Provide a specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology service to include the care of both inpatient and ambulatory patients, within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) regional hospitals and remote communities; contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education at Royal Darwin Hospital, including vocational training and supervision. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Provide care and advice on the management of patients with Obstetric and Gynaecologicalconditions to colleagues both within and outside the unit, and to those colleagues in geographically isolated centres in the Top End of the NT. 2. Conduct regular inpatient ward rounds, outpatient sessions and theatre sessions, incorporating teaching, and provide specialist opinion to referring medical practitioners. 3. Participate in provision of specialist outreach Obstetrics and Gynaecology services to Regional Hospitals and regional and remote communities. 4. Participate in an on-call roster to provide emergency after hours care. 5. Supervise junior medical staff in accordance with Top End Region, RDH and unit policies. 6. Actively participate in and support educational activities including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, professional development, peer review, research, and teaching. 7. Liaise with other medical, paramedical, and nursing and midwifery staff and provide input into Unit and Hospital policies, for the ongoing development of specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology services in the Northern Territory. 8. Actively participate in and support continuous quality improvement activities including audit, guideline development and individual performance review. 9. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces. 10. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour. Selection criteria Essential 1. Eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia. 2. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in cross-cultural environments. 4. A commitment to improving Indigenous health. 5. Evidence of commitment to teaching and learning, research, and continuous quality improvement. Desirable 1. Experience in clinical governance, risk management and/or policy, strategy development.
