Growing company in the stage of growth 14m Fixed Term Contact - potential for permanent Sydney based role This is a 6m non ongoing APS6/EL1 Opportunity for a Templates and Precedent Developer. Positions may be offered in one of the ten offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Townsville. Within the contract period the Template and Precedent Developer will primarily review and update identified priority templates by: • Applying consistent styles and formatting in accordance with the Organisational Writing Style Guide. • Updating embedded macros using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for Office. • Inserting new VBA macros as required. • Updating references to law, procedure and practice. • Ensuring all templates adhere to accessibility and security standards. In support of this primary role, the Template and Precedent Developer will: • Identify, design and implement automated processes to update templates. • Advise on best practice for legal and other template development and maintenance within the current framework. • Lead the consultation and collaboration with template owners and other lawyers to deliver accurate, high quality national and local templates. • Provide leadership of a multidisciplinary working group. • Develop and maintain project documentation to effectively monitor and track progress and enable reporting. • Identify duplicate templates across jurisdictions and, in consultation with template owners, prepare national templates to replace them. • Ensure all custom Microsoft Office ribbons, templates and content controls function reliably. • Produce effective training and technical documentation for all custom solutions. • Support the LPPI team to build capability. • Report on progress against the project plan. • Collaborate and contribute to broader Organisational and APS objectives. Key attributes required for this position include: 1. Extensive experience designing, building and maintaining complex Microsoft Word templates, including a deep understanding of Microsoft Word styles, style hierarchies, multilevel lists, numbering schemes and document structure. 2. Ability to analyse existing templates and identify structural, formatting or functional issues. Ability to troubleshoot template behaviour, macro failures, style corruption and compatibility issues. 3. Demonstrated proficiency in VBA, with an ability to write, debug and optimise existing VBA code used in templates and document automation. 4. A strong understanding of the creation and editing of custom UI XML files and management of XML schemas, with a demonstrated ability to create, edit and integrate custom XML parts within Word templates. 5. Ability to identify, design and implement automated processes to update Word template files. Proficiency using relevant scripting languages and/or artificial intelligence tools. 6. Ability to consistently and rigorously apply a style guide or similar conventions in the creation or modification of templates, with strong attention to detail. 7. Demonstrated experience leading template review or redevelopment projects, including conducting audits of existing templates and identifying structural or functional improvements. 8. Ability to lead engagement with multidisciplinary working groups and liaise with internal stakeholders including lawyers, IT and Communications specialists. 9. Ability to work collaboratively, sharing information and contributing to the development and delivery of work group and broader CDPP objectives and outcomes. 10. Capacity to provide sound advice on complex issues using appropriate methodologies and practices. 11. Ability to communicate complex and technical information clearly and succinctly to non-technical experts (including lawyers and legal support staff). 12. Ability to train non-technical experts (including lawyers and legal support staff) to understand the basics of template creation and maintenance to increase existing capability.
