The role We’re seeking a Team Lead – IT Operations to oversee IT service delivery across Western Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Regional IT Operations Manager, you will lead regional engineers, manage operational performance, and act as the primary interface between APAC business stakeholders, vendors, and Global IT teams. This role requires strong operational ownership, cross-cultural leadership capability, and the ability to balance local business needs with global IT standards. The day to day In this role, you’ll: • Lead a distributed regional IT operations team across WA and NZ • Own end-to-end IT operations including end-user computing, networks, servers, and local infrastructure • Act as the primary escalation point for major incidents within the region • Ensure incidents, service requests, and changes are managed in line with ITIL and global SLAs • Partner with business leaders and site management as the single point of contact for IT operations • Coordinate with Global IT teams (Network, Security, Workplace, Cloud) on projects and issue resolution • Manage regional IT vendors, ISPs, and service providers, ensuring SLA adherence • Oversee endpoint management (Intune, SCCM), Microsoft 365 administration, and device compliance • Monitor backup and recovery processes, supporting restore testing and incident response • Support new site setups, expansions, lab environments, and regional integrations • Manage regional IT budgets, track OPEX/CAPEX spend, and forecast requirements • Drive standardisation, security compliance, and alignment with global IT frameworks The essentials We’re looking for a hands-on operational leader who brings: • Degree in IT or related discipline • 8–10 years’ IT experience, including multi-site or multi-country exposure in APAC • 2–3 years in a Team Lead or IT Operations leadership role • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) • Experience with Endpoint Management tools (Intune, SCCM) • Solid networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, firewall basics) • Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam • Strong understanding of ITIL processes and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) • Proven experience managing cross-cultural teams and stakeholders • Strong financial awareness, including budget ownership and vendor management • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across business and technical groups Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
