Accountant – Boutique Insurance Brokerage Kogan People Solutions is working with a long-standing; boutique Insurance Brokerage located in South Yarra. Our client is a member of a leading national insurance network and is seeking a dedicated qualified and experienced Accountant to manage their internal financial operations. This is a "hands-on" professional role, perfect for an accountant who enjoys a broad range of responsibilities and wants to work closely with business principals in a stable, professional services environment. Location – South Yarra Tenure – Full time, ongoing Salary – negotiable in the range $77k to $82k plus superannuation per annum Responsibilities Working with senior members of the organisation, Formulating budgetary and accounting policies. Preparing financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and aiding in asset management. Ensure the continued appropriateness of internal controls, policies and procedures and regulatory compliance. Prepare and analyse comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage the integrity of the firm’s accounting systems, providing high-level supervision of payroll, trust accounts, and general ledger reconciliations. Investigating and preparing the monthly management reporting pack relied on for use by decision makers in the business. Review and update accounting manual procedures. Development of systems & resources to streamline and automate processes and procedures of the business. Ensure ongoing accuracy and preparation of the bank reconciliation process. Preparing regulatory returns such as the monthly Business Activity Report, Fringe Benefit Tax return (FBT). Ad hoc or special projects requested by management. To be considered, we expect to see A degree (in accounting or similar area). Proven professional experience (at 3 years preferably more) as an accountant, in similar professional settings. Progress towards, or demonstrated interest in, professional accounting qualifications such as CPA or similar. Proficient in contemporary accounting systems and the main office software suites. Up-to-date knowledge about Australian taxation law and financial reporting requirements. Attention to detail. Good time management and communication skills. Systematic and critical thinking skills.
