The role The Risk & Resilience Advisor supports the organisation by providing practical, professional advice across enterprise risk, insurance, business continuity, security, and emergency preparedness. This is a broad, advisory role suited to someone who enjoys working across the business to interpret policy, apply regulatory requirements, prepare governance documentation, and uplift organisational capability. The role is not an operational emergency management position, but instead focuses on readiness, assurance, coordination and continuous improvement. You will work closely with the Risk & Resilience Lead and stakeholders across Gippsland Water to support sound decision making, effective controls, and a strong culture of risk awareness and resilience. Key Responsibilities Support organisational and strategic risk management frameworks, reporting and reviews Assist with insurance administration, including claims support and policy guidance Coordinate and maintain business continuity planning and assurance activities Support security management activities, including contractor security and access audits Assist the business with emergency and crisis preparedness, planning and exercises Interpret legislation, standards and internal policy to provide clear, practical advice Prepare governance and executive level documentation, including reports and briefings Build strong working relationships across the organisation and with external partners What you’ll bring Experience in a risk, resilience, assurance or governance role within a regulated or public sector environment (e.g. local government, water, utilities) Ability to interpret legislation, standards and policy and translate them into practical business guidance Strong written skills, including experience preparing reports or papers for senior leaders or boards Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative working style Capability to manage multiple workstreams across different functional areas Experience across risk, insurance, business continuity, security or emergency preparedness (not necessarily all) Freedom We offer a variety of flexible arrangements to suit our employees varied needs and the business, including purchased leave, varied start and finish times, working from alternative locations and accrued days off.
