Job Summary
Opportunity to join the ConocoPhillips M&R team as Operations Technician – Maintenance Mechanical.
Position Overview
Join the ConocoPhillips (COP) Australia Pacific LNG Operations team and contribute to a high‑performing organisation focused on safety, reliability, and operational excellence. This Mechanical Technician role supports safe and consistent facility operations through strong attention to HSE, process safety, compliance, and production optimisation.
You’ll provide technical expertise across rotating and static equipment, carrying out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maintain asset integrity and reliability.
Working with a high level of independence, you’ll manage and execute the weekly maintenance schedule, making informed decisions to deliver work efficiently and effectively, with supervisory support as needed.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to understand the current work scope, execute tasks to plan, and proactively identify preparation requirements to ensure efficient delivery.
Maintain strict compliance with work order processes, ensuring timely close‑out and clearly communicating any deviations or discrepancies in accordance with ConocoPhillips’ document control procedures.
Contribute to strong performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by understanding how they are measured and how your work directly influences outcomes.
Support optimal, continuous plant performance by completing assigned tasks and Plant Maintenance (PM) routines within your competency and in line with the schedule.
Identify and report equipment defects or faults, raising SAP notifications promptly and accurately.
Maintain a fully up‑to‑date competency profile to support safe and effective task execution.
Demonstrate and promote teamwork and the ConocoPhillips SPIRIT Values in all aspects of work.
Support the coaching, mentoring and development of Operations Technicians (Mechanical), contributing to capability building within the team.
Actively participate in the performance review process, including developing and delivering on agreed performance goals with your supervisor.
You will bring to the role:
Required:
Cultural alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values
Mechanical Trade Certificate
Experience working in an industrial or resources environment
Solid understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance
Ability to read mechanical drawings and maintenance procedures
Strong technical communication and interpersonal skills
Basic analytical, problem‑solving, and computing skills (Microsoft Office)
Experience using a CMMS, ideally SAP
Ownership of HSE responsibilities
Preferred:
Rotating equipment alignment experience
Exposure to aero‑derivative engines and centrifugal compressors
Background in LNG/hydrocarbon, petrochemical, or complex processing/power generation environment
Emergency response experience
Ability to interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams
