DescriptionWe are seeking an Electrical Apprentice and Machinist Apprentice. Our Apprentices will be working towards a Cert III in their respective trades, while learning and developing the skills to safely complete the required works.
ResponsibilitiesElectrical Apprentice
- Attend all required training and actively develop underground electrical maintenance skills.
- Carry out electrical maintenance and extra‑low‑voltage repairs safely and to required standards.
- Support a safe work environment by contributing to JSAs, JHAs, risk assessments and following engineering standards.
- Perform planned and breakdown repairs to support equipment availability and production needs.
- Use electrical and hydraulic schematics for repairs and fault‑finding.
- Provide feedback to improve maintenance planning and work towards set KPIs.
- Follow all company, site, regulatory and OEM guidelines, including State Mines Regulations and AS/NZS 3000.
- Record electrical work accurately in the Electrical Records Book and report unsafe conditions.
Machinist Apprentice
- Attend all required training and actively develop machining, measuring and equipment‑operation skills.
- Assist with setting up, operating and maintaining machining equipment (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders).
- Perform basic machining tasks following drawings, specifications and supervisor instructions.
- Measure and inspect workpieces to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance with standards.
- Support a safe work environment by following JSAs, risk assessments and all safety procedures.
- Learn to diagnose issues with machines and tools and assist with minor repairs or adjustments.
- Maintain clean, organised work areas and properly store tools and materials.
- Follow all company policies, industry standards and apprentice requirements while providing feedback to improve processes.
Qualifications- Strong motivation and commitment to learn, succeed, and complete a four‑year apprenticeship.
- Foundation qualifications and licences, including Year 10 certificate (or higher), a valid manual driver’s licence, and current First Aid & CPR.
- Safety‑focused mindset, consistently aligning with Redpath’s “Safety – First, Last and Always” philosophy.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and complete tasks safely.
- Reliability and adaptability, including being fit for work, reporting any health concerns, and adjusting to changing schedules and priorities.
