We are seeking an adaptable, solutions focused individual to join our team as an APS 5 Base Support Officer supporting RAAF Learmonth and the Harold E. Holt Naval Communication Station, located near the township of Exmouth, Western Australia. Located on the picturesque Ningaloo Coast, both sites play vital roles in Defence operations - from aviation support and contingency activities at RAAF Learmonth to globally significant communication capabilities at Harold E. Holt. As a Base Support Officer, you will help ensure these sites operate safely, securely, and efficiently while providing responsive support to Defence personnel, contractors, and visiting units. This role is hands on, varied and community centred, requiring strong communication skills, coordination capability and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. You will contribute to estate management, essential services delivery, stakeholder engagement, emergency management planning, and operational support activities across both locations. As a Base Support Officer supporting Learmonth and HEH, your responsibilities may include: Providing day to day operational support to Defence units, visiting aircraft and personnel Coordinating with contractors and industry partners delivering base services and estate outcomes Supporting estate, facility and infrastructure management across both sites Assisting with base safety, security and emergency management requirements Monitoring compliance with WHS, security and operational standards Supporting high?risk weather preparedness and response, including cyclone season activities Assisting with operational activities such as surge support, visiting detachments and exercises Engaging with local stakeholders including emergency services and government agencies Managing administrative tasks, resource coordination and base activity planning Maintaining strong working relationships across Defence, APS and contractor groups About our Team East and West Zone (EWZ) is a branch of the Service Delivery Division within the Security and Estate Group. As part of Defence's estate delivery network, EWZ supports capability readiness by providing coordinated, dependable and innovative estate and base management services. EWZ delivers essential, on the ground support to Defence personnel across New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. Our work ensures Defence bases remain secure, well managed and responsive to the needs of Defence personnel, industry partners and enabling functions. EWZ's responsibilities are centred on the effective management and sustainment of Defence's diverse estate footprint across four states and territories. This includes day to day base operations, precinct coordination, risk and compliance management, contractor performance oversight, and long?term estate planning.
