About The Role Do you have experience working as a cook and a passion for creating exciting, nutritious meals for children? We have an exciting opportunity for a flexible and collaborative Cook to join our team at our Early Education and Care Centre that also offers a unique autism-specific program. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and implementing fresh, nutritious, and engaging meals throughout the day that support children’s health and wellbeing, especially children with special needs. This position requires a cook who understands that children’s needs come first. Flexibility is essential — mealtimes and food preferences may vary, and children may require food at different times throughout the day. We are looking for someone who can adapt confidently rather than strictly adhering to one fixed menu. This will include: Preparation and serving of food and drink to children attending the centre in line with the centre’s program Planning and implementing a nutritionally balanced menu guided by best practice Ensure all allergies and cultural requirements are catered for as well as supporting children with food sensitives and preferences Ensure daily cleaning of all kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and appliances Perform any other duties as requested by your manager consistent with the position About You: You will have experience and skills in the following: Commercial Cookery / Certificate IV in Hospitality management or equivalent Food Supervision Certificate Minimum 6-12 months as a cook in a Childcare setting Flexibility to support children with special needs Current Working with Children’s Check (NSW) Completion of Nutrition and Menu Planning for Children training (desirable) High level oral and written communication skills What is on offer: For Centre roles: Above award pay and conditions Discounted childcare fees & priority placement for your children Professional training and development to support you to continue to learn and grow Generous leave entitlements Employee Assistance Program Other benefits can be seen here: Why work for SDN?
