About Some engineering roles maintain quality systems. This one builds them. A Melbourne-based advanced robotics company is looking for a Quality Engineering Lead to take ownership of how complex electro-mechanical hardware is verified, tested, and prepared for operation in demanding real-world environments. You’ll join at a pivotal stage of growth, working alongside a highly capable engineering team developing advanced robotic systems from concept through integration and deployment. This role will lead the development of the organisation’s hardware quality framework establishing the processes, tools, and environments needed to move from prototype to reliable, production-ready systems. The Role This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on hardware quality and product assurance. You will: Lead the development of hardware quality and assurance processes from the ground up Define testing, inspection, and measurement practices for electro-mechanical systems Validate incoming components and supplier deliverables against engineering requirements Support the setup of testing labs and controlled engineering environments Drive non-conformance investigations and root cause analysis Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers during integration and testing Establish documentation, traceability, and verification practices Act as the central point of contact for hardware quality across engineering and suppliers About You You’re an engineer who enjoys building structure, improving reliability, and working close to real hardware. You’ll likely bring: Experience in quality engineering, product assurance, manufacturing engineering, or systems verification Background working with electro-mechanical or robotics hardware Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and/or electrical assemblies Hands-on experience with testing, measurement, or validation environments Experience working with suppliers and hardware acceptance processes Confidence operating across multidisciplinary engineering teams Exposure to structured quality frameworks (ISO9001, AS9100, or similar) is advantageous Australian Citizenship and/or eligibility to meet criteria for Baseline Security Clearance.
