This engineering services contract is between Worley and our customer, supporting ongoing baseload engineering services at their Portland Smelter. The scope includes engineering support across concept studies, feasibility studies, FEED, and detailed design, delivering projects aligned with the facility’s capital expenditure plan as well as maintenance and reliability programs. As a Lead / Senior Electrical Engineer with Worley, you will work closely with our established site team to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes for our client while continuing to develop your technical and leadership capability. This is a site-based position located at Portland, Victoria , offering long-term work continuity, strong client engagement, and exposure to a diverse portfolio of brownfield projects. Your responsibilities will include: Deliver discipline-specific electrical engineering services from concept through to as-built, ensuring solutions meet Worley, client, and regulatory requirements and are safe, sustainable, and fit-for-purpose. Undertake and verify engineering design deliverables in accordance with Worley checking procedures, participating in design reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, and safety-in-design workshops. Prepare and review engineering estimates, calculations, drawings, specifications, and schedules, ensuring clarity of scope, assumptions, resources, and deliverables. Provide technical direction, control, and supervision to ensure quality, technical integrity, and delivery of electrical design within budget and schedule. Manage workload and resourcing for the discipline team, providing mentoring, technical guidance, and support for ongoing capability and career development. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders, building trusted and collaborative working relationships. Proactively identify risks and engineering challenges and develop practical, innovative solutions across the full asset lifecycle. About you: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power), with professional registration in Victoria or the ability to obtain. Proven experience delivering and leading electrical engineering work in refinery, mining, smelting, or similar heavy industrial brownfield environments. Strong technical capability across HV/LV systems, protection schemes, calculations, layouts, instrumentation interfaces, and commissioning support. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or work scopes concurrently while delivering high-quality outcomes. Sound knowledge of Australian electrical standards; Hazardous Area Accreditation and/or Functional Safety TÜV certification are highly regarded.
