Your Next Employer Our client is a globally backed agribusiness with a diverse portfolio across tree cropping, viticulture and broadacre cropping. At their Tooleybuc orchard, they operate approximately 2,000 hectares of almonds across the lower Murray region, with Tooleybuc and Goodnight running as a connected hub and a third site nearby at Piangil. You’ll be joining a down-to-earth orchard team that values consistency, collaboration and getting things done properly. A core team of around 13–14 staff (plus admin) runs day-to-day operations, supported by contractors during major programs such as spraying and harvest. It’s a practical, well-aligned crew where people back each other and take pride in keeping the orchard running smoothly. The Role Reporting to the Irrigation Manager, this is a hands-on irrigation role where you’ll be mentored by an experienced Irrigation Manager, ideal for someone who wants to step up into irrigation leadership. You’ll provide hands-on support across irrigation and fertigation delivery, field monitoring, system performance checks, maintenance coordination and disciplined record keeping. The orchards are now at or near full production, so accuracy, consistency and early issue identification matter. There’s no direct staff management attached. Your focus is technical: learning the systems, spending time in the field, supporting execution, and steadily building capability under guidance. Over time, you’ll develop a deep understanding of irrigation infrastructure and layouts across all three properties. Key Responsibilities Your focus is to ensure accurate, consistent irrigation across the orchard while keeping the system performing reliably and supporting the team. Support daily irrigation and fertigation across all sites, adjusting runs to suit orchard condition, seasonal demand and system performance. Monitor water status using soil moisture and pressure chamber testing, identifying and communicating issues early. Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of pumps, filtration, valves and mainlines. Support installation works and staged upgrades to improve system reliability. Use irrigation platforms and monitoring tools to maintain accurate records, escalate issues early and support disciplined systems execution. What You Bring You’re a practical irrigator who’s comfortable learning from the field and solving problems as they arise — and you’re keen to build the capability to run a system, not just operate it. Hands-on irrigation experience (horticulture or broadacre preferred). Background in irrigation, horticulture, agriculture, engineering, nutrition or a technical discipline. Strong numerical aptitude — comfortable with flows, rates, run times and ratios. Technically curious, coachable and keen to learn complex systems. Reliable, methodical and calm under pressure. Comfortable using apps, platforms and basic technical troubleshooting tools. Individuals with a mechanical or engineering background and irrigation exposure are encouraged to apply. What You’ll Gain Salary: $80k - $90k Super Bonuses: Up to 5% of base Vehicle: Fully maintained work vehicle provided An established, stable and supportive team, with management who work with you, not over you.
