The opportunity: As a mechanic at Mount Hotham you will be responsible for conducting high quality services and repairs on the resorts vehicle fleet, plant and machinery. Ensuring all assets are reliable, safe, and fit for purpose. This role ensures assets are well maintained and service delivery is conducted in an efficient and effective manner. Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on resort plant, vehicles, and machinery, including diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled servicing to ensure operational reliability. Maintain accurate service records and manage parts inventory, supporting compliance and efficient workshop operations. Identify and implement improvements to workshop processes, communication, and workflow, enhancing the effectiveness of mechanical services. Coordinate daily tasks and support the Plant & Fleet Manager in planning and prioritising maintenance activities. Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and consultants to facilitate timely repairs, procurement, and delivery of parts and services. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with ARV’s OH&S policies, procedures, and safe work instructions, promoting a culture of safety. Contribute to risk assessments and support compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for plant and fleet operations. Provide technical advice and support to the Assets & Operations team and other resort staff, fostering knowledge sharing and teamwork. Key Selection Criteria Trade qualifications as a diesel fitter, mechanic or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. 3 Years experience as a diesel fitter, mechanic or equivalent. Heavy Rigid Licence. Previous experience driving in hazardous weather and alpine road conditions (desirable). Metal fabrication qualifications or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. Ability to work in a remote, often harsh alpine environment. The successful candidate will be required to: Have full Australian working rights. Currently hold or be willing to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check – Employee type Have a current, unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence.
