CatholicCare is looking for a Registered Psychiatrist to join their Multisystemic Therapy Team for Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN) based in Tuggerah, NSW. About the Role The purpose of the position is to support the MST-CAN team by providing quality psychiatric services in the home, the community, and provide input into thorough assessment, case planning and provision of evidence-based treatment in coordination with other clinical stakeholders where children are at imminent risk of removal. As specified by the requirements set out in the MSTi License this support will be provided under the supervision of the MST- CAN Supervisor and MST-CAN Consultant. MST-CAN is an internationally recognised program for families who have come to the attention of child protection services due to physical abuse and/or neglect. Designed to treat 6-17 year-olds and their families and is proven to keep them together, ensure children and young people are safe, prevent abuse and neglect, reduce mental health difficulties experienced by adults and children and increase natural social supports to reduce risk of entering out-of-home care. Position Specific Responsibilities: Provide psychiatric evaluations of child and adult family members, as indicated. Have on-going interface with the MST-CAN treatment team concerning psychiatric and medical diagnoses that pertain to child and adult family members. Act as a community liaison with outside physicians/psychiatrists concerning medical or psychiatric care of child and adult family members. Provide the team with emergency psychiatric evaluations of child and adult family members as needed in the office, the community, and/or by tele-psychiatry. Coordinate all psychopharmacological interventions with family members. Keeps thorough notes of MST-CAN Psychiatric Consultation so these can be included in the client’s chart. Work with the MST-CAN supervisor to modify and implement safety protocols and documentation. Attend MST-CAN group supervision weekly and/or as required. Work with the MST-CAN Supervisor to develop and implement evidence-based psychiatric and psychopharmacologic treatment protocols. Essential qualifications: A Medical Degree (MD) with licensure/board certification as a child and/or adult psychiatrist that is recognised in Australia. Knowledge and demonstrated experience using evidence based clinical practices and their application to treat families.
