The School to Work (S2W) Program supports young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to stay engaged at school and build confident pathways into further education, training or employment. We’re looking for a committed School to Work Project Officer to join the team and support Year 11 and 12 students, as well as school leavers, as they navigate their next steps. This is a full‑time max-term position through to December 2027 and is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people in the Gold Coast region. About The Role As a School to Work Project Officer, you’ll provide mentoring, guidance, career conversations, and connect students with meaningful opportunities that support their future pathways. You will also represent the program at schools and community events, building strong relationships that enhance S2W’s presence in the region. As this role supports a new program region, you’ll play a key part in establishing and nurturing partnerships from the ground up. In The Role You Will Mentor and support Year 11, Year 12, and post‑school participants as they explore study and employment options. Manage and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, universities, TAFEs, and employer partners, to ensure participants receive tailored support, guidance, and ongoing mentoring. Work with employers, training providers, TAFEs, and universities to connect students to genuine opportunities. Deliver information sessions, support participant recruitment processes, and contribute to program engagement across the region. Attend school visits, meetings, and community events as part of ongoing student support. Maintain accurate case notes, administration, and program records. Ideally You Will Have 2-3 years’ professional experience in Youth Work, Education, Community Services, Welfare or a related area. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Experience supporting at risk young people and an understanding of the challenges they face. Demonstrated ability to meet outcomes and achieve key performance indicators. Experience developing programs or services that address social or economic disadvantage. Proven success in supporting disengaged students to remain in education or transition into further study.
