About the job POSITION DESCRIPTION- GRADUATE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (starting August 2026) About us: WHPH OT & Wellbeing (formerly Work Hard Play Hard Occupational Therapy Service) was established in 2021, starting as a sole practitioner, offering support for young people and adults living with psychosocial disability. Since that time, the WHPH OT & Wellbeing team has grown and now has 6 Therapists, offering OT services across the age range, from children through to older adults. The WHPH OT & Wellbeing team will be growing in 2026, with plans to offer supported graduate Occupational Therapy position/s and expand to other Allied Health disciplines. Our clinic is located in Lang Lang Victoria (just 30 minutes from Cranbourne), though offer outreach to participants living through the Frankston, Mornington Peninsula, Dandenong, Casey, Cardinia and Bass Coast local government areas. WHPH OT & Wellbeing are committed to supporting those who live with intellectual, developmental or mental health challenges to engage or re-engage with the life they deserve and value. WHPH OT & Wellbeing utilizes the recovery model in it’s approach to practice, recognizing the value of; connection with others, hope in recovery, individual identity, finding meaning and supporting empowerment. The WHPH OT & Wellbeing team has experience across a variety of Occupational Therapy settings, including paediatrics, vocational rehabilitation, case management, emergency mental health, in-patient mental health, as well as workforce education and training. The WHPH OT & Wellbeing team has the skills and capacity to offer functional capacity assessments, occupational therapy specific assessments, supportive counselling, family work, distress tolerance and coping skills, promoting adaptive living skills, community engagement and connection, social skill building, promoting activity health and routine, therapeutic groups and much more. The WHPH OT & Wellbeing has experience working with a number of mental health diagnosis, including; Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Personality Disorder and Dementia. In addition to mental health diagnosis, the team also has experience working with those who live with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Substance use disorders. WHPH OT & Wellbeing operates as a stand alone company (trading under ABN: 64691480001) and provides part time Occupational Therapy Services. Academic Qualification required: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. Location: Provision of Occupational Therapy Services is based on the preferences of client’s, as well as safety considerations. WHPH consulting rooms are located at The Langy Hub (49b Westernport Road Lang Lang), though client’s may request or require home or community based support or Telehealth. WHPH OT Services client group is based across the Frankston, Mornington Peninsula, Casey, Cardinia and Bass Coast Shires. Client group: Those living with psycho-social, intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving or applying for NDIS funded support. WHPH OT & Wellbeing offers services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Therapists may express a preference to work primarily with a specific client group based on interest and experience, though workload and capacity will also be considered in client allocation. Hours: Full (40 hours per week) and part-time (32 hours per week) graduate positions available- permanent on-going. Salary: Pay rate: Between $35-$45 per hour, depending on skills and level of experience. *Personalised rates of pay will be specified in individual contracts. Support Supervision and Professional Development: A 4 week ‘hyper-care’ period will be offered to all new Graduates, where they will receive extensive orientation and spend time shadowing and working alongside more experienced Therapists. Upon completion of this period, Therapists will be offered weekly-fortnightly supervision, though will have access to daily support from experienced Therapists. The support and supervision will be offered to graduates is not only aimed at facilitating familiarity with WHPH OT & Wellbeing processes, but more importantly assist in reflection, practice improvement and self-care. Professional development (internal and external) will be provided to assist graduates in acquiring skills and knowledge in relevant areas of interest and practice. Billable target: After a 1 month supernumerary period (doing work with and alongside experienced Therapists), a target of 2.5 billable hours per day will apply for the first 2 months of practice. The billable target will move to 3.5 hours thereafter. On completion of 3 months, a bonus’ will be paid to Therapists when more than 3.5 billable hours are achieved in the day. Superannuation: Superannuation will be paid at 12%. Annual Leave (accrued progressively each pay cycle): Full time graduates (40 hours per week) will be entitled 160 hours of annual leave per year. Part-time graduates (32 hours per week) will be entitled 128 hours of annual leave per year. Personal Leave (accrued progressively each pay cycle): Full time graduates (40 hours per week) will be entitled to 80 hours of personal leave per year. Part-time graduates (32 hours per week) will be entitled 64 hours of personal leave per year. Travel: If service provision occurs away from WHPH Consulting rooms, Therapists will be paid for at their standard hourly rate for their travel time. Therapists will not be paid for petrol or vehicle running costs. Key responsibilities and duties: Conducting comprehensive assessment to support in the identification of valued roles, interests and meaningful time use to promote improvements in activity health. Conducting comprehensive and specialised Occupational Therapy Assessments, to determine strengths and occupational performance issues to collaboratively develop plans to promote functional improvements. Conducting assessment or re-assessment to support NDIS referrals and plan reviews to ensure all support needs are met. Analysing, interpreting and translating assessment information into well organised Functional Capacity reports to support client’s in accessing appropriate NDIS services. Conducting sensory modulation assessments to identify how environmental, occupational or personal changes can promote adaptive functioning. Supporting client’s in developing skills related to managing stress and anxiety in a healthy and adaptive way. Facilitating therapeutic groups, which adopt a ‘healthy body/healthy mind approach’ and tailored to suit group needs i.e. exercise, cooking skills, community integration, social skills, mindfulness, relaxation, stress management, recovery, relapse prevention and wellness planning, understanding mental illness and much more. Developing comprehensive wellness plans that are aimed at supporting engagement in life/occupational functioning, including life skills such as self-care, shopping, budgeting, cooking and cleaning. Contributing to service improvement. Desirable Qualities/Attributes: The ability to assess, formulate and support client’s in accessing appropriate NDIS services.
