Spend Time with a Travel-Loving Retired Nurse & Her World of Stories Are you someone who enjoys meaningful conversations, a good laugh, and the simple joy of connecting with others? In Lithgow, there’s a remarkable elderly woman who would love to share her stories with someone new. A retired nurse with a lifetime of caring for others, she’s explored over 70 countries and has a Starbucks mug collection that could rival a souvenir shop (yes, every mug has a story… and yes, you’ll probably hear them all). Life has become a little quieter lately. With her husband requiring high care at home, getting out into the community isn’t easy, and those everyday social connections are deeply missed. What this is about: This is simply about connection. A friendly visit. A shared cuppa. A few laughs. What you’ll do: Visit for one hour, weekly or fortnightly Chat, listen, and enjoy good company Be welcomed into a home filled with stories, warmth, and a lot of mugs Flexible between 9am – 5pm, whatever works for you Your time will bring companionship, brighten someone’s week, and gently reconnect two people to the world beyond their front door. And you? You’ll walk away with stories from around the globe, a few laughs, and that quiet, lovely feeling of having made someone’s day. Sometimes the smallest visits leave the biggest footprints. Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxFDDi9bS6c HammondCare HammondCare is an independent Christian charity and we're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need.
