Reporting to the Director, Research Partnerships, this role plays a key part in maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship while identifying new areas of synergy that support both organisations’ strategic priorities. As the Alliance Manager, you will lead the coordinated delivery of the Curtin University–Woodside Energy Alliance, ensuring the partnership operates effectively and delivers sustained, mutual value. Operating at the intersection of academia and industry, you will work closely with Curtin researchers, Woodside leaders and key stakeholders to shape and advance shared priorities, enable new collaboration opportunities, and translate Curtin’s research capability into outcomes aligned with Woodside’s strategic objectives. This role is central to strengthening and evolving Curtin’s strategic alliance with Woodside Energy, ensuring the partnership remains aligned to shared priorities, delivers measurable and enduring value, and continues to mature as a flagship industry–university collaboration. Through proactive alliance leadership, the role supports a shared commitment to innovation, research excellence and solutions that deliver long‑term economic and societal impact. This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term opportunity offering a salary of $138,681 – $146,497 (G09) per annum plus 17% superannuation and competitive benefits. Your responsibilities will include: Lead the day-to-day coordination of the Curtin University/Woodside Energy Alliance, ensuring activities run smoothly and align with the strategic priorities of the partnership. Identify Curtin’s key research strengths and connecting them with the commercial priorities of Woodside Energy to support impactful collaboration. Build and maintain strong relationships between Curtin researchers and Woodside Energy representatives to identify and develop new partnership opportunities. Develop and manage relationships with external stakeholders and funding bodies, including state and federal government and the CSIRO, to support collaborative initiatives. Negotiate research collaboration agreements, including terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with university policies and legal requirements. Who we are looking for (selection criteria): An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification (preferably in Science or Engineering) with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of significant business development experience and expertise. A proven track record of securing financial support from industry and government to support research and development initiatives. Experience establishing and/or managing collaborative partnerships between industry, government and research organisations. Highly developed negotiation and project management skills, with the ability to develop and implement project plans and successfully deliver complex initiatives. Strong networking capability with an established network across the business community and relevant sectors. Desirable Criteria: Experience working within or closely with a research organisation.
