We’re seeking an experienced Vocational Support Worker to join our team. This is a hands-on, outdoor role ideal for someone with strong grounds maintenance experience and a genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities to build skills and succeed in the workplace. Benefits: SCHAD’s Award Level 2 Pay rates from $34.58 – $37.73 Salary packaging meal/entertainment card (if eligible) Option to purchase extra annual leave (if eligible) Fitness Passport access for you & family (eligibility criteria applies) Ongoing training & professional development Annual flu vaccination Duties: Lead and work alongside a small mowing crew across residential and commercial properties Operate commercial mowing equipment including ride-on mowers, whipper snippers, hedgers and blowers Ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard Support, train and mentor crew members in developing their skills Maintain equipment and ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and professional Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Good communication and problem-solving skills Positive, patient, and supportive leadership style Ensure safe operation of mowing and gardening equipment Plan and complete scheduled mowing and grounds maintenance jobs Complete daily client progress notes and incident reports Carry out other duties as directed Skills and Experience: Essential: Proven experience in lawn mowing, landscaping, or grounds maintenance Previous experience in the disability sector or a related field Practical experience or knowledge of Work crew operations and yard maintenance Strong written and verbal communication skills Good time management, organisational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel Desirable: Experience supporting people with disabilities in a vocational or supported employment setting Experience supervising staff or work crews Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices Small engine mechanical knowledge About Us: For over 65 years, Challenge Community Services has been empowering individuals and strengthening communities.
