Questacon's mission is to excite and motivate people through inspirational learning experiences. Questacon’s Enabling Services Section supports the delivery of capital, exhibition and ICT projects for Questacon, and the safe maintenance and operation of Questacon’s buildings. The Questacon Facilities Team contributes to the achievement of Questacon's mission by supporting the day-to-day operations of Questacon's premises at Parkes, Deakin and Fyshwick and ensuring that Questacon's visitors, staff, volunteers and contractors are provided with a safe and clean environment as well as functional, sustainable and accessible facilities and services that enhance the visitor experience and contribute to workplace productivity. Our ideal candidate The APS3 Facilities Support Officer, to support Questacon's operation, will work a 3-week rotational roster including weekends and public holidays. The position includes consistent rostered overtime that is managed consistent with the DISR Enterprise Agreement, including via payment or time off in lieu. The role includes property management, maintenance and administration tasks which are shared with other Facilities Team members. Facilities Team members must be responsive and have a strong customer focus and commitment to team objectives and outcomes. High risk work licences (ie forklift) are desirable, as is experience working in the maintenance team of a public facility. What you will do Under direction assist with the following operations and maintenance functions: Ensure the code of conduct is followed onsite at all times, and all contractors work safely. Clean within the centre and surrounding areas. Provide ad-hoc maintenance services including furniture assembly and repairs, along with minor building repairs and painting. Load and unload vehicles. Move exhibits, furniture and equipment. Set up and pack down of equipment for Questacon functions. Operation and maintenance of materials handling equipment including motorised forklift, a pallet mover, and a vertical lift platform. Order and maintain consumable stocks. Maintain Questacon leased vehicles. Contribute to the management of building plant and equipment. Maintain the card access database including activation/deactivation or ID access cards for staff and contractors. Demonstrated self-awareness, problem solving, personal drive, integrity, professionalism and a proven commitment to APS Values, Code of Conduct, WHS principles, and security protocols. Eligibility Prior To Commencing, Successful Applicants Will Be Required To Hold a current unrestricted Australian driver's licence, Be available to work a seven-day rotating roster that includes weekend work and on call duty. Applicants must be able to obtain or already hold a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011. To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Notes This vacancy is based in Canberra, ACT operating from the Questacon National Science and Technology Centre in Parkes. Some additional work may be undertaken at Questacon’s offices in Deakin and Fyshwick as directed.
