Be a key contributor to the development of an innovative new correctional facility Casual opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service VPS2: $60,295 - $77,430 plus superannuation The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Workforce Engagement Support Officer, to provide a critical role within Western Plains Correctional Centre. About the Business Unit Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. Western Plains features multi-purpose infrastructure which is adaptable to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria and the people in our care. Modern amenities include medical wards, a cultural centre, and vocational training facilities. Western Plains provides a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to individualised care which motivates, encourages and promotes reintegration into the community. Western Plains has advanced technology which improves security, streamlines operations and enhances connections for the people in our care. Western Plains operates with three primary service teams: Workforce and Prison Services, Communities, and Safety and Operational Service which collaboratively deliver comprehensive services for people in our care, safety management, and corporate services. About the Role This role is part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, a team dedicated to delivering essential corporate and ancillary services support to prison operational teams and prisoners. Leveraging the technical ability and professional expertise of trained subject matter experts, the team supports the smooth functioning of prison operations while prioritising prisoner rehabilitation and safety. Reporting to the Team Leader, Workforce Engagement, you will be a key contributor to delivering & supporting the operational requirements of a new correctional facility. As a Workforce Engagement Support Officer, you will respond directly to general staff enquiries in an efficient, effective and customer focused manner to deliver timely, accurate and reliable support to managers and employees. This role will also be responsible for triaging queries to specialist staff support areas within the Prison and Workforce Services team and provide administrative support to the Workforce Services Team. This is a hands-on role that will require you to apply your strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and manage workloads; work productively under minimal supervision; and provide exceptional customer service to employees. You will be required to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and public holidays and attend to urgent work as required. Appropriate remuneration will be applied for the above in accordance with the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024. Given the nature of the position, being a customer-facing role within the facility, you will be required to work on-site, with reduced working from home capacity. Some of your duties will include: On a roster receive and handle inbound telephone calls from the Western Plains staffing team calling to advise of inability to attend scheduled shifts and making general HR related enquiries. Proactive workforce engagement including providing support and appropriate referrals where required In conjunction with the workforce services team and operational staff, ensure that vacant shifts are filled in a timely manner and in such a way as to ensure minimum disruption to facility operations. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience in providing corporate support services in government or large private sector organisations would be desirable. Experience working with the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software would be highly desirable. Qualifications A tertiary qualification is desirable but not required.
