About the Role: Barcaldine Regional Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team in Alpha. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and monitoring of the Alpha Water Treatment Plant, ensuring safe, high-quality drinking water is delivered to the community in line with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Key Responsibilities include: Operating and monitoring water treatment processes Managing chemical dosing to maintain water quality standards Collecting water samples and coordinating laboratory testing Maintaining plant records and operational logs Monitoring SCADA and telemetry systems and responding to alarms Conducting routine inspections of plant equipment Assisting with maintenance tasks alongside Council's plumbing team Participating in an on-call roster as required. Location: Based in Alpha, with Regional Work and Travel as required. Classification Level: Level 7 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2025. Wage: Minimum base salary of $73,747.96 per annum Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances. Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly. Hours of work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight. Leave Entitlements: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum 17.5% Loading.
