About the role This is a permanent full-time role (part time hours maybe considered) located at Young. As a Senior Peer Worker, you will not only use your own life experience of mental health and personal recovery to support consumers, but you will also support the peer worker team as a role model and mentor. The Senior Peer Worker works collaboratively with the other members of the team and external services to maximise care outcomes for consumers. They will also support community engagement activities. Benefits & Perks A positive work culture by offering flexible work arrangements that support your wellbeing Ongoing professional development and supervision Increase your take home pay by salary packaging up to $15,900 $2,650 meals and entertainment GPH Staff Conference Employer paid parental leave on top of the government PPL Scheme Free and confidential Employee Assistance Program Full-time positions have the option to enjoy a Rostered Day Off each month Duties Provide open and effective support to people accessing or considering connection to GPH mental health services Use your own lived experience of mental health challenges to support people accessing the program with their own lived experience of the same Support the peer worker team as a role model and mentor Contribute the consumer voice and advocate on their behalf to the multidisciplinary team and managers Skills & Experience Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Peer Worker role Direct lived experience of life changing mental health challenges and/or mental health service use as well as periods of healing and personal recovery Commitment to safely and purposely share lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, and lead and guide staff through influence Ability to utilise interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective and mutual relationships with consumers Thorough understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries, ethical behaviour, policies, and procedures Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment, inclusive of clinicians, managers and other health professionals Demonstrated effective written, verbal and computer literacy skills Current drivers’ licence and willingness to travel as part of the role and flexibility to work outside normal business hours About Grand Pacific Health What we care about most is supporting healthier, happier, more connected communities across NSW and the ACT.
