Position summary The Senior Community Development Specialist – Family Violence Prevention provides and practice leadership in the planning, coordination and delivery of community development initiatives that support refugee, asylum seeker and migrant communities, with a focus on family and sexual violence prevention. Working with a high level of autonomy, the role applies strengths-based, human rights and primary prevention frameworks to promote respectful relationships, strengthen social connection and support positive settlement outcomes. The role leads multiple family and sexual violence prevention projects and supervises project staff to ensure programs are culturally safe, trauma-informed and responsive to multicultural and faith communities. The position is responsible for project budgets, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and works in partnership with specialist family violence services, community organisations and government stakeholders across the Barwon region to strengthen coordinated prevention responses and sector capability. This position will be contracted on a maximum term part time basis until 26 February 2027, working 30 hours per week. Duties Provide specialist advice and guidance on culturally responsive family and sexual violence prevention. Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of community development and family/sexual violence prevention projects. Apply strengths-based, human rights and family-violence-prevention approaches in all work. Strengthen collaboration between multicultural and faith communities, community organisations, and specialist family and sexual violence services to improve access to culturally safe and tailored supports. Provide professional supervision, mentoring and reflective practice support to project staff. Develop, monitor and control project budgets, ensuring expenditure is tracked, compliant with funding requirements, and aligned with program objectives. Oversee project reports, monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate outcomes and support continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience Extensive experience working with migrant, refugee, and multicultural/faith communities, including knowledge of settlement processes and systemic barriers. Demonstrated experience leading projects, coordinating work plans, and supervising staff where relevant. Expertise in co-design, community engagement, and community-led program delivery. Experience leading family and/or sexual violence prevention projects and working in partnership with specialist services. Strong knowledge of MARAM and the mainstream family and sexual violence service system.
