The role will require a skilled mechanic who can manage maintenance tasks effectively while communicating professionally with customers. Appointing a qualified and customer-focused mechanic ensures timely repairs, high-quality workmanship, reduced vehicle downtime, and continued customer satisfaction. Main Tasks: Ensuring Safety - Maintaining, testing, and repairing vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy. Customer Service - Discussing vehicle issues with customers, explaining necessary repairs, and providing cost estimates. Workshop Safety - Maintaining a clean and safe, organized work area and handling hazardous materials safely. Tool and Equipment Care - Properly use and maintain diagnostic and hand tools, ensuring a safe and organized workspace. Compliance and Safety - Follow workplace safety procedures and adhere to environmental regulations regarding waste disposal and vehicle fluids. Record Keeping - Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, parts used, and labor time for each job. Vehicle Inspection and Diagnosis - Examine vehicles to identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools, test drives, and visual checks. Preventative Maintenance - Conducting routine services like oil changes, fluid flushes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Repair and Maintenance - Service and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension and exhaust. Testing and Quality Control - Test vehicle systems and components to ensure proper function after repairs. Manage Inventory - by ordering parts and tracking stock levels. Eligibility Requirements AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV or higher qualifications.
