Rosary & Companion Volunteer (Weekly/Fortnightly) Make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. About the Role As a Rosary & Companion Volunteer, you will: Lead or facilitate a Rosary prayer session (weekly or fortnightly) Provide gentle support and encouragement during group prayer and share faith, comfort and companionship Spend approximately one hour per week visiting a resident as a 1:1 companion Engage in meaningful conversation, listening, reading, reflection or quiet presence Support residents spiritual and emotional wellbeing and make a genuine difference in someones life Experience the joy of meaningful connection Days and times are flexible and can be arranged to suit your availability About You We are looking for someone who: Is comfortable leading the Rosary Has a warm, patient and respectful manner Enjoys spending time with older people Can commit to regular visits Is reliable and able to build trusting relationships Previous volunteering, ministry or pastoral care experience is welcomed but not essential. Why Volunteer? Many elderly Australians in aged care homes face loneliness and social isolation. By volunteering just one hour a fortnight, you can make a significant difference in their lives. You'll be matched one-on-one with a resident who could greatly benefit from your friendship. Studies show that loneliness can be as detrimental to health as smoking, and sadly, over 40% of people in aged care lack regular visitors. Your presence can help bridge this gap. Program Details: Dedication: We're looking for people to create new friendships with our residents and as such, would hope you'd want to visit that friend approximately 10 times over a six-month period. Requirements: Must be over 18 years old, NDIS or Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (provided and paid for by us) and ideally be available to visit consistently and ongoing.
