The Brisbane Entertainment Centre is seeking an experienced and proactive Security Coordinator to support the safe, secure, and seamless operation of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre (BEC). This is a pivotal role for a confident leader who thrives in dynamic environments and takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism and service. As the Security Coordinator, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the BEC Security team and Control Room. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all security procedures are followed, risks are managed, and the venue remains a safe environment for staff, patrons, and stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include: Your responsibilities will include: Leading a small team Security Officers and ensuring the smooth operation of the day to day Security operations. Maintaining strong working knowledge of BEC security documentation, procedures and WH&S requirements. Overseeing key systems including: Building Management System (BMS) Venue Lighting System CCTV Access Control System Manage key systems Fire Indicator Panel Internal communications systems – Mobile Radios Chronicler – Security Log Lone Worker Alarm monitoring Maintain and monitor the security roster, ensuring all shifts are appropriately staffed and coverage requirements are met. Developing and implementing effective patrol strategies across the venue and grounds. Auditing patrol logs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and thorough documentation. Ensuring all security operations align with corporate policies, WH&S legislation and emergency management procedures. Instructing security staff on policies, procedures, and operational expectations. Conducting performance reviews in partnership with the Facilities Manager and People & Culture. Reviewing and updating training, audit, and performance documentation for Security Officers. Submitting updated documentation for approval prior to implementation. Participating in emergency response, incident reporting, and evacuation procedures. Remaining vigilant for suspicious activity and ensuring all incidents are reported promptly. Coordinate the training and onboarding of new security staff, ensuring all required documentation, inductions and records are completed and maintained. Please note: You will be required to work in isolation and the role will involve shift work based on a 24/7 rotating roster. High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. Respect for confidentiality and sound judgement. Flexibility with working hours, including events and emergencies. A collaborative approach and willingness to take direction when required. The ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions. Essential Qualifications & Experience Minimum 7 years’ experience in the security industry. Experience rostering a small team using Humanforce or similar time in attendance system. Certificate III in Security Operations (or higher). Queensland Security Advisor Licence. Current Queensland Security Provider Licence with: Security Officer (Unarmed) Security Officer (Monitoring) Current First Aid and CPR certification. Open Driver’s Licence. ABOUT THE VENUE Built by the Brisbane City Council as a world class multipurpose facility, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre formed part of Brisbane's bid for the 1992 Olympic Games.
