The role is responsible for translating regulatory, legal, and operational requirements into practical data governance, analytics, and platform outcomes-particularly within advanced Azure-based analytics environments. This role sits at the intersection of regulation, technology, and analytics. It requires strong strategic capability, deep experience working with legal and regulatory stakeholders, and the ability to lead technically diverse teams delivering complex data initiatives. Data, Intelligence & Analytics team manages some of Australia's largest data assets, providing valuable insights and support to our highly skilled intelligence analysts. Our team is at the forefront of data analytics-led risk-based regulation, using cutting-edge techniques and technologies to extract meaningful information from vast amounts of data. Your day-to-day Lead the strategy, design, and implementation of data governance and analytics projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory priorities and operational outcomes. Provide authoritative leadership to diverse technical teams, including data engineers, analytics specialists, and application developers, fostering high performance and accountability. Elicit and translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into clear specifications for data engineers and application developers. Work closely with Legal teams to ensure data initiatives comply with legislation, privacy obligations, information access requirements, and governance frameworks. Translate data analytics and regulatory intelligence requirements into robust data models, supporting advanced analytics, reporting, and risk-based regulation. Lead and oversee Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for advanced analytics platforms, with demonstrated experience in Azure-based data and analytics environments. Drive collaboration with other regulatory agencies, particularly within the construction and building sector, to enable lawful data sharing, joint analytics, and coordinated regulatory responses. Ensure data governance practices support compliance with the Home Building Act, Design and Building Practitioners Act (DBP Act), and other legislation relevant to regulating the NSW construction industry. Establish and maintain data governance standards, policies, and controls that balance regulatory assurance with innovation and delivery pace. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: Strategising and delivering complex data, analytics, or governance initiatives. Leading multidisciplinary technical teams, including data engineers and analytics professionals. Translating regulatory and analytics needs into executable technical and data models. Extensive engagement with Legal teams on privacy, legislation, and information governance. Designing and implementing PIAs for advanced analytics platforms, particularly within Azure. Working across regulatory agencies in the construction or building sector. Applying legislation such as the Home Building Act, DBP Act, and related NSW regulatory frameworks in practical data and analytics contexts.
