Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. We currently have an opportunity for an ILS Officer in Canberra to work on CJC16 projects. What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Lead and coordinate material logistics activities, including allocating work, setting priorities and ensuring resources are aligned to meet project outcomes. Develop and implement logistics strategies and plans that support acquisition and sustainment objectives, ensuring alignment with Defence requirements, processes and regulatory frameworks. Provide expert guidance and oversight on complex logistics tasks, reviewing performance, advising stakeholders and ensuring Integrated Logistics Support concepts and plans are correctly applied. Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and communication, liaising with internal and external partners and preparing clear written and verbal material for senior decision‑makers. Adapt logistics activities to evolving project needs, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy while maintaining alignment with project objectives and performance expectations. What You’ll Bring Ability to lead and prioritise logistics work, allocating tasks, resources and workflows to ensure the work area consistently meets project outcomes. Strong material logistics planning capability, developing and contributing to strategies and plans that support Defence acquisition and sustainment objectives. Deep understanding of Defence logistics processes, including ILS concepts, Defence requirements, and the ability to implement compliant acquisition and sustainment procedures. High‑level communication and stakeholder engagement skills, maintaining productive relationships, providing expert guidance, and preparing clear written and verbal material for senior decision‑makers. Sound judgement and adaptability, interpreting policy and regulatory frameworks, reviewing logistics performance, and adjusting activities to remain aligned with evolving project objectives. Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
