Primary objective Support the Senior Finance and Travel Officer by providing quality, client-focussed logistical support for travel arrangements for NT Fire and Emergency Service (NTFES) employees and volunteers. This includes travel bookings and payments in accordance with relevant legislation, enterprise agreements, and Government procurement requirements. Provide assistance/guidance to members with purchasing goods and services within the NT Government regulatory framework. Context statement The Finance Unit comprises two sections: Budget Management and Accounting and Taxation. It provides client support services to the agency in the areas of budget management, financial management and reporting, tax management, and travel. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Liaise with NTFES employees regarding travel and accommodation requirements and compare rates of identified requirements to ensure value for money. Endeavour to tactfully resolve issues/concerns directly with the employee or escalate if required. 2. Assist with checking movement requisitions for travel and associated allowances and book official travel through the corporate travel provider. Process invoices using a corporate credit card to process accounts payable or credit card system. 3. Train and provide information to a diverse range of stakeholders on travel matters and systems in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, entitlements, and policies. 4. Ensure correct general ledger and GST codes and financial delegations have been applied to invoices and credit card payments ensuring compliance with Australian Taxation Office requirements. 5. Assist in the management of outstanding travel acquittals by following up with employees as required and preparing reports, data and information as needed including regarding outstanding travel acquittals, travel, and accommodation costs. 6. Participate in specific projects as directed, work collaboratively in a small team, develop, and maintain effective partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Selection criteria Essential 1. Sound experience working in a busy corporate services environment, providing client focussed services, preferably in travel related logistical support. 2. Sound knowledge of travel regulations, policies, procedures, entitlements, governance requirements, and processes relevant to the key duties and responsibilities. 3. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable, self-motivated and act in an ethical and professional manner. 4. Sound communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work accurately with a high level of attention to detail. 5. Well-developed skills using contemporary finance, IT and office software and systems. Desirable 1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g., accounting, finance, or business. 2. Experience working in a para-military organisation.
