The Garden is not just a GP clinic. It is a sanctuary for healthcare and improving lives. We are looking for a child and adolescent psychologist to join our thriving clinic. One of our much-loved child psychologists is moving on, and we are ready to welcome the next special person into a busy, supported and collaborative environment. About The Garden Our healthcare team includes over 30 Specialist GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals working together to deliver better outcomes. Psychology is an integral part of that team and of our patient care. We particularly enjoy offering a 'one-stop shop' for patient care, so they don't have to travel to different locations or repeat their stories. We care about excellence, innovation, compassion and collaboration. We hold case conferencing between GPs and psychologists to discuss complex cases and learn from each other. We are well connected to local paediatric and psychiatric specialists and maintain a strong working relationship. We are regularly booked and maintain an active waitlist for child and adolescent mental health. There is strong demand, particularly for afternoon, early evenings during the week and Saturday sessions, and preference will be given to applicants who are interested in working during these times. The Role We are seeking a psychologist who can manage children (ideally ages 6 and up) and adolescents. We currently have a large cohort within this age group within our clinic, many who are on waitlists or unable to find the care they need. This will include working closely with the parents and families of these young people. You will have the opportunity to support families over time, often across multiple siblings and stages of development. Presentations may include: • Anxiety disorders and school avoidance • Trauma and attachment concerns • Family stress and parenting challenges • Depression and mood disorders • Self-harm and suicidal ideation • Body image concerns and eating disorders • ADHD and Autism • Learning disorders • Emotional regulation and behavioural challenges • Bullying and peer difficulties • Sleep difficulties • Gaming and technology overuse • Gender identity and LGBTQIA related concerns • Grief and adjustment difficulties • Emerging personality vulnerabilities We work from a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming and person-centred lens. We value curiosity, humility and collaboration. What Makes This Role Different Whilst our GP's arrange Mental Health Careplan referrals - the discussion is ongoing and collaborative, meaning an initial letter can become an ongoing journey with lots of opportunity to connect and share our goals. We have found that this model ultimately leads to improved patient outcomes and satisfaction. We hold in-house case conferences as needed and run regular education and training sessions for the entire team. We have commenced in-house Autism assessments using a GP–Psychology model and are expanding into ADHD assessment and management, with our GPs undertaking further training in prescribing. You will have access to screening platforms, cognitive tools and secure cloud-based software. A Lyrebird AI subscription is available if you would like support with note writing. We are soon commencing a dedicated Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse who will support families between sessions and work closely with both you and our GPs. Our Patient Care Centre triages calls and bookings, with staff trained in risk assessment and safety processes. There is always a GP and Healthcare Assistant (reception staff) on site if urgent clinical concerns arise. We maintain close relationships with tertiary services, including Fiona Stanley Hospital, Perth Children’s Hospital and CAMHS, and are developing future research collaborations around innovative models of care in this space. What We Offer • Full administrative support • A dedicated, calm consulting room • Flexibility within our opening hours • Strong internal referral pathways • Regular multidisciplinary education • Opportunities for advocacy, school talks and events • A vibrant, supportive team culture We are open to psychologists transitioning from school or community settings and provide induction and support into a private GP practice. Who You Are You genuinely enjoy working with children and teenagers. You are warm, engaging and able to build strong rapport not only with young people, but with parents and carers as well. You understand that when we support a child, we are often supporting the whole family system. You are confident holding complexity. You may be supporting trauma, neurodivergence, mood disorders or significant family stress, and you are steady in those spaces. At the same time, you know how to celebrate small wins and highlight strengths. You enjoy being part of a team. You are open to case discussion, shared learning and collaborative care. You value innovation and may have ideas for new programs, groups, assessment models, or ways to improve what we offer. We definitely welcome that. You are registered with AHPRA as a Psychologist and can demonstrate experience working with children and adolescents. If you are looking for a clinic that is progressive, compassionate and collaborative, we would love to hear from you. Apply via Seek with your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience with children and adolescents, and your preferred days and hours.
