We are seeking applications to fill a full-time ongoing Campaigns Lead position in the office of Senator Steph Hodgins-May About the role This role is central to driving Senator Steph Hodgins-May’s campaign strategy, fostering strong connections with the community, and building the Greens' power. You will lead and coordinate campaigns that engage supporters, activate volunteers and strengthen grassroots networks to achieve real impact. Collaborating with Steph and our Community Liaison Adviser, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering local and portfolio-focused campaigns, including climate, democracy and early childhood education, ensuring Steph’s priorities are effectively advanced in the community and aligned with the broader Greens objectives. You’ll also work closely with the Communications Adviser to drive campaigns through digital platforms to reach new audiences, advance engagement and grow the Greens movement. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Greens colleagues at local, state and federal levels, engage with community groups and advocacy organisations and activate supporters to build momentum, both online and through in-person events that bring communities together and energise the movement. We’re looking for a strategic, energetic campaigner with excellent communication and people skills, a passion for community engagement and the ability to turn campaign strategy into real-world action. In this role, the Campaigns Lead will: Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of creative local and portfolio-focused campaigns, including on digital platforms Plan, organise and manage events, community actions and volunteer opportunities activities Build and maintain strong relationships with advocacy organisations, community groups, members and supporters on behalf of the senator Identify and facilitate opportunities for stakeholders to connect with the senator and her work in the parliament and the community (including but not limited to meetings, events, and regional trips) Collaborate with Greens colleagues across local, state and federal levels to align campaign activities with broader party priorities. Support the communication of campaign priorities through movement-building and community engagement initiatives Support the senator to use her time strategically, including working with the Office Manager to determine diary priorities Manage and support office volunteers as required Promote, support and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture. Perform other duties as required by the Senator and/or Chief of Staff. Skills and experience required: Demonstrated experience in planning and executing effective campaign strategies, tactics and projects. Experience in planning, organising and managing events, volunteer programs and community engagement activities. Ability to build and manage strong relationships with stakeholders, allies, community groups and supporters. Experience in movement building, grassroots mobilisation or community advocacy. Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, including negotiation and conflict resolution, while maintaining a positive and professional approach. Experience and interest in building the capacity of others, including volunteers and community supporters. Strong organisation, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints and strict deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a small team. Demonstrated understanding of the political process and the Australian parliamentary system and political landscape. A current Australian driver’s licence Knowledge and/or experience working in the climate and/or democracy movements Experience in digital campaigning Employment conditions: The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act (1984) and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include: A commencing salary between $76,910 and $89,793 per annum will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills. An additional allowance of $25,541 per annum may be payable in recognition of, and as compensation for, additional hours of work and travel requirements. Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements). An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% is payable. Applicants should note: While a Canberra location is preferred, if you are Melbourne based, you’ll be required to travel to Canberra and at times across Victoria, and interstate to support the Senator during sitting weeks and key events. An initial probationary period of three months may apply and may be subject to extension. The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
