This role is ideally suited to a candidate in their final year of university or within their first-year post-graduation, with a strong academic foundation in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will be an extremely diligent and fast learner, with prior exposure to bookkeeping through university coursework, internships, audit experience, or entry-level accounting roles. Experience in using accounting platforms such as Xero and/or QuickBooks Online in an academic or practical setting is required. The Bookkeeper will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting end-of-month reporting, performing intercompany and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal accounting procedures, and assisting with reporting and Power BI dashboard development. Key Responsibilities General Bookkeeping & Ledger Management • Maintain accurate day-to-day accounting records across multiple entities • Perform weekly intercompany debtors and creditors reconciliations across all entities • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and the Chart of Accounts • Ensure all transactions are recorded on an accrual basis End-of-Month (EOM) Support • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, loans, clearing accounts, and control accounts • Complete monthly intercompany reconciliations across entities • Ensure month-end cut-off procedures are followed in accordance with company accounting policies • Support accruals, prepayments, and journal adjustments as directed by the Finance Manager Compliance & Procedures • Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and documented SOPs • Support BAS preparation and GST coding accuracy • Maintain audit-ready records and supporting documentation Reporting & Systems Support • Assist with financial reporting through Power BI • Support mapping and data alignment from QuickBooks Online and Xero into Power BI • Maintain consistency between accounting systems and reporting dashboards • Identify process improvement opportunities within accounting and reporting workflows Administrative Collaboration & Support • Support with operational admin including re-ordering supplies for the office and product sales • Support with office documentation and filing. • Work closely with other finance and operational team members • Respond to internal finance queries in a timely and professional manner • Undertake additional finance and reporting tasks as assigned Key Deliverables • Reconciled balance sheet accounts each month • Accurate intercompany reconciliations across all entities Timely assistance with EOM financial reporting for the Finance Manager Reliable financial data feeding into Power BI dashboards • Compliance with company accounting procedures Required Skills & Experience • Currently in final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline, or within first year post-graduation • Demonstrated exposure to bookkeeping or accounting through internships, audit experience, part-time roles, or university practical work • Foundational understanding of Australian accounting principles and financial reporting • Practical experience with QuickBooks Online and Xero Xero Certified Partner and/or QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor preferred Strong understanding of accrual accounting and month-end processes • High attention to detail and strong reconciliation discipline • Experience supporting reporting tools such as Power BI • Strong Excel skills • Sound understanding of Australian GST and BAS fundamentals Personal Attributes • Highly organised and deadline-focused • Strong sense of accountability and ownership • Comfortable working within structured accounting procedures Proactive communicator who flags discrepancies early Team-oriented with a practical, solutions-focused mindset Remuneration Salary will be $30/per hour. 20 hours per week to start – growing to 40 hours per week if required by AgriGate. 4-month fixed contract.
