About Us: Good Shepherd Lodge Ltd is a leading aged care provider in Mackay, operating two residential aged care facilities, Good Shepherd Lodge and Kerrisdale Gardens , comprising 280 beds across both sites. We also support over 100 Independent Living Units and provide Home Care services. We are currently seeking motivated and experienced Café Assistants to join our team and help create a welcoming café experience for residents, visitors, and staff. Position Overview: As part of our team, you will be responsible for creating a pleasant and friendly atmosphere in our on-site cafés with availability Monday to Saturday, providing exceptional customer service, preparing light refreshments, and ensuring that our café environment is clean, welcoming, and comfortable for all. We are looking for someone available at least 4 days per week. Key Responsibilities: Customer Service: Serve residents, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Food and Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve light snacks, hot drinks, and cold beverages in line with our menu offerings. Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the café area tidy and well-organized, ensuring it adheres to hygiene and food safety standards. Stock Management: Assist in managing café stock, including restocking products and monitoring inventory levels. EFTPOS and Payment Management: Operate the point-of-sale system and balance staff purchase/payroll deduction dockets. Resident Interaction: Be mindful of the needs of residents, offering a friendly ear and assisting with any special requests. Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other café staff and contribute to a positive team environment. Skills & Experience: Previous barista experience in a café or hospitality environment is essential. Strong customer service skills with a warm and friendly approach. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, particularly in interacting with elderly residents. Basic food handling and hygiene knowledge (training can be provided). Ability to work as part of a team and independently. A caring and respectful attitude towards residents and their families. Requirements: National Police Check (or willing to obtain one). Food Safety Certificate (or willing to obtain) Current Influenza vaccination (or willing to receive). Minimum of 2 x covid vaccinations. A positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic.
