The Impact of the Role As the Child and Family Therapist within Community and Psychosocial Services, you will deliver trauma informed, developmentally appropriate and culturally safe therapeutic interventions for children and young people who have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviours, and for their families. Through comprehensive assessment, structured risk management and tailored therapeutic planning, you will reduce risk, promote healing and strengthen protective factors within each child’s socio ecological environment. Working collaboratively with the Family Navigator, you will provide individual, family and group based therapeutic support, incorporating evidence informed approaches such as play based, narrative, cognitive behavioural and psychoeducational strategies. Your work will address intersecting needs including school engagement, carer wellbeing and broader family stability. Reporting to the Head of Wellbeing and Clinical Practice, you will contribute to high quality, culturally responsive practice aligned with the Minimum Practice Standards for Specialist and Community Support Services Responding to Child Sexual Abuse and the National Clinical and Therapeutic Framework for Responding to Children and Young People with Harmful Sexual Behaviour, strengthening both individual outcomes and broader service capability. Key Responsibilities Deliver evidence informed, trauma focused therapeutic interventions tailored to developmental stage and cultural context Conduct comprehensive risk and needs assessments and develop integrated therapeutic plans Provide individual, family and group based therapy and psychoeducation Develop and implement safety planning with families and manage identified risk behaviours Adapt therapeutic materials and strategies to meet cultural and linguistic needs, including in language or interpreter assisted delivery Collaborate with the Family Navigator, schools, youth justice, child protection and community organisations to ensure coordinated care Contribute to workforce capability through reflective practice, shared case discussions and practice guidance Maintain accurate documentation, data collection and reporting in line with professional, ethical and WHS standards Support evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives across the service Uphold Fair Foundations Cultural Diversity Principles across all aspects of service delivery About You You are an experienced and reflective therapeutic practitioner with a strong commitment to child safety, trauma informed care and culturally responsive practice. You are confident conducting assessments, managing risk and delivering structured interventions with children, young people and families. You will bring: A minimum Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a related field, with post graduate qualifications preferred At least three years’ experience working in a clinical or therapeutic role with children, young people and families, including those displaying problematic or harmful sexual behaviours Experience delivering evidence informed, trauma focused interventions such as play based, narrative, cognitive behavioural and psychoeducational approaches Registration with the relevant professional body, such as AHPRA or equivalent Strong assessment, risk management and safety planning capability Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including high quality report writing and case documentation Demonstrated cultural competence and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases effectively A current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain Current First Aid and CPR certification, along with a valid Class C NSW Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle Benefits offered by Fair Foundations include Generous salary packaging of up to $18.5K per annum 17.5% Leave Loading Two Gifted Days per annum, pro rata Employee Assistance Program Discounts and Perks Career Development and Training Discounted Childcare services, 40% discount on out of pocket fees If you are motivated by the opportunity to provide therapeutic leadership that creates safer futures for children and families, we encourage you to apply.
