As a key member of the Branch, you will contribute to operational performance, support a positive safety culture, participate in policy and procedure development, and provide leadership by sharing technical expertise, supporting others, and contributing to continuous improvement across engineering and maintenance activities. You will play an important role in PTA’s Rail Revitalisation Project as a Track Project Engineer, delivering track renewal programs and providing engineering assurance for internal and external works. The position provides technical advice on Track designs, drawings and specifications, and supports activities such as track maintenance upgrades, renewals, testing, commissioning, delivery of new assets, and stakeholder and interface management. About You! To excel in this role, you should possess: Hold qualifications suitable for Professional membership of Engineers Australia, with proven experience delivering track engineering support across planning, design, construction, maintenance and commissioning in an asset‑intensive rail environment. Demonstrated capability in developing and interpreting standards for civil and track assets. Experienced in the development, design and delivery of rail projects, with sound understanding of project management principles. Applies asset management frameworks to support strategy and long-term asset performance. Demonstrated experience applying safety management systems with strong knowledge of Rail Safety Legislation, ensuring engineering activities meet all legislative, standards-based and operational requirements. Provides effective leadership to support team outcomes and maintains strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including negotiation and facilitation. Lead and support junior team members within the Branch to enable best project outcomes and strengthen team development. Able to produce clear technical reports and build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Possesses well‑developed analytical skills to resolve complex technical and operational issues. Demonstrates strong organisational ability to meet deadlines through teamwork and delegation, along with personal accountability, commitment to development and a proactive approach to safety leadership.
