This is a Vehicle Building Trades Person - New Build role with UGL based in Newcastle, NSW, AU UGL Role Seniority - mid level More about the Vehicle Building Trades Person - New Build role at UGL Due to continued growth, UGL’s Manufacturing & Maintenance business is seeking skilled Vehicle Builders to join our Locomotive New Build team in Broadmeadow, Newcastle. This is a full-time permanent opportunity on a 9-day fortnight schedule, offering day shifts from Monday to Thursday (5:30am – 2:30pm), with every second Friday off, and working 5:30am – 1:30pm on the Fridays you do work. The Role In this role, you’ll report directly to the Service Delivery Manager, contributing to locomotive new builds by performing detailed internal and external fit-outs on Locomotives, and handling general workshop duties. Responsibilities include: Cutting and installing flooring Installing air ducting and acoustic insulation Fitting roof and wall linings Handling internal and external GRP panels Installing windows and assembling doors Sealing and backfilling with Sikaflex products About You We’re looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes: Australian trade certificate with a Certificate of Proficiency in Carpentry Joinery, Shop Fitting, Shipwright, or Vehicle Building Strong written and verbal communication skills Reliable and punctual with a commitment to safety General rail or locomotive experience (desirable but not essential) Ability to interpret schematics and production drawings Capable of working autonomously and in a team Customer-focused with a drive for quality work Why UGL?
