Division/Section: Infrastructure and Operations / Water Position Type: Permanent Full Time (9 day fortnight, 38 hours/week) Salary Range: Base Salary $79,527per annum super, with the potential to earn up to an additional $2,100 through applicable allowances, plus overtime and penalty rates dependent on work performed. As a city we need to use our water wisely to ensure Townsville’s water supply is secure now and into the future. We’re looking for an experienced Plumber to help lead day-to-day maintenance across our regional water network. In this role, you’ll be the on-site point of contact organising access, permits and safety, guiding staff and contractors, and making sure work is carried out to council standards. You’ll jump in on leaks, breakages and planned works to keep services running smoothly for our community, while also managing equipment, stock and the necessary reporting. If you’re someone who can balance hands-on work with coordinating people and keeping things compliant, you’ll fit right in at council. This role is required to participate in the on-call roster and overtime arrangements as required, to resolve out of hours operational issues or emergency works including disaster management. The on-call roster is generally 1 week in every 8 weeks. Qualifications and Experience There arecertain qualifications that are required and others than can be obtained upon commencement and these include: Mandatory Trade qualification in Plumbing with experience in water reticulation. Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD) Current "C" class driver’s licence with the ability to obtain an "MR" class drivers licence. Desirable Traffic Management Implementation course accredited. Competent person with experience in Confined Space Entry. Traffic Management Implementation course accredited. Successfully completed training to supervise asbestos removal and have suitable experience in removal of asbestos piping. Ability to work as part of a team of employees to ensure that interruptions to water supply to Council customers is averted or rectified quickly and efficiently. Well-developed supervisory and leadership skills. Strong community and customer relations skills. Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental Protection, Equal Employment Opportunity, Anti-discrimination and privacy obligations, and QLD Local Government Act.
