Open every day of the year, the Park is the most visited tourist attraction the in Swan Valley attracting over 1.5 million people annually who enjoy the many wildlife and transport heritage offerings available. The Museum Curator is responsible for the delivery of a contemporary, responsive and fit for purpose collection and museum management framework, ensuring high standards of museum practice and service delivery. The Museum Curator will need to provide effective conservation and interpretation of the built and moveable heritage collections managed by Whiteman Park, the provision of a high standard of museum operations and the delivery of engaging public programmes and visitor experiences. Whiteman Park offers the opportunity to work at a unique and beautiful location within a small but dedicated team at one of Perth’s premier tourist destinations. This position also offers the opportunity to be involved in all other aspects of the Park’s operations including events, conservation work, fire mitigation program and emergency response as required. This position also comes with the ability to undertake overtime on weekends and public holidays as required. This is for a permanent full-time position. To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate: Considerable experience in a curatorial environment with a sound understanding of contemporary museum practices and programming. Demonstrated knowledge and application of current and emerging trends in a museum and collection management environment. Demonstrated experience in undertaking research and analysis for archival and interpretation purposes, as well as developing fit for purpose policies and procedures for collection management and interpretation. Demonstrated ability to promote and provide access to a moveable heritage collection through exhibitions and museum programming.
