Horticultural Assistant (Casual) – 20–25 hrs/week Mittagong Garden Centre Mittagong Garden Centre is seeking an experienced, reliable and customer-focused Horticultural Assistant to join our team in a casual role offering 20–25 hours per week . This is a hands-on position suited to someone confident working in a retail garden centre environment who can provide knowledgeable plant advice while supporting daily operations and maintaining high presentation standards. About the role Deliver excellent customer service and practical plant advice Assist customers with plant selection, placement and care guidance Operate the POS system and process sales Maintain plant health, watering and retail presentation standards Support general garden centre tasks and daily operations Confidently assist customers from greeting through to purchase About you Strong horticultural knowledge and interest in plants and gardening Practical understanding of common garden plants, watering needs, sun exposure and basic pest/disease awareness Comfortable working in a busy retail environment with a steady flow of customers Physically capable of lifting 25kg as part of daily duties Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Takes initiative and remains productive during quieter periods Maintains excellent presentation standards across plant and retail areas Positive, helpful and team-oriented approach Ability to work independently without formal training Availability to work at least one weekend day plus flexible weekday hours What we offer Supportive and professional team environment Consistent casual hours (20–25 hrs/week) Opportunity to work within an established and well-regarded garden centre If you enjoy helping customers, have strong plant knowledge and take pride in maintaining a high-quality retail environment, we would love to hear from you.
